Now yall already know that this chick puts a whole new meaning to “The Baddest Bitch”. Well…Trina created and started the Baddest Bitch movement. But I’m sayen B has it going on. She’s a legend! She literally has changed the world, not just in the music industry, but she changed the game of what it “really” means to be a woman. She needs no intro, you should already know her from Destiney Child’s, movies, commercials, clothing line, and the list goes on.
Let’s start with the Super Bowl. Keeping it all the way real, she killed it at the 2016 Super bowl. We will never forget that bomb ass performance. Every woman of color got into Formation. Her and her army of girls had afros and wore black leather clothing to pay tribute to the Black Panthers and the X was for honoring Malcolm X. And…I believe she released her new single “Formation a long with the video that day with no warnings, no notification, and no ads. Very Beyoncé. I was not ready, but I got into Formation that day, me and my soul yall!
Beyoncé did an interview with ELLE Magazine about the Super Bowl message. Nope not controversy. It’s only a controversy to those who are offended and mostly likely those people who are offended are racist. My opinion. I think it’s a damn brilliant idea for a Black Women with Celebrity power/status like Beyoncé to send a strong message about police brutality. Here’s a quote from her interview. Beyoncé stated…
“I mean, I'm an artist and I think the most powerful art is usually misunderstood. But anyone who perceives my message as anti-police is completely mistaken. I have so much admiration and respect for officers and the families of officers who sacrifice themselves to keep us safe. But let's be clear: I am against police brutality and injustice. Those are two separate things. If celebrating my roots and culture during Black History Month made anyone uncomfortable, those feelings were there long before a video and long before me”.
Very well said B.
Beyoncé music just speaks to me. Every word is in every song I can relate to. I mean she just gets me a mood. You can go from being that female hustler to freakum dress to getting into Formation and I’m not sorry.
She is an influencer for sure.
Happy Black History Month
